This space is a repository for my net radio station news and the like. Sometimes, when reposting older news and playlists, I'll include my recent comments in bold italics. I keep the following station description at the top, since I kept changing it all the time.

meow: glitterbox:

Freeform eclectronica: new and old. (Hehe, I'm so clever.) Music that falls through the cracks: electro, Italo disco, synth, post-punk, funk, old NYC favourites, obscure 70s/80s, idm, Detroit and other techno techno, acid, microhouse, bedroom bleeps, mash-ups and loads more.

NOT the same old "dance" or "electronic" selections. And when I play 8ties stuff, it's not the same old tunes everyone was already sick of by 1985. It IS quirky, new, and different, often obscure, always interesting and fun. I play whatever it is I'm feeling, from music for dancing to certifiable chillage and points inbetween. It's a great station for home, work or wherever. Playlists are carefully selected and sound quality is way better than it should be at this bitrate.

Latest station news appears, and is archived here.

last week's Halloween show:

kittyween 10.31.03 spookylaptopm1nx

Me First and the Gimme Gimmes: Science Fiction Double Feature
Judas Priest: Metal Gods
I-f: Space Invaders are Smoking Grass (short, remastered version)
Inhumanz:Shoot the Warpigs (Nas vs Black Sabbath)
The Rapture: Killing
Mat-101: Haunted House
Ladytron: Evil (Tony Senghore's Automatic Vocal Remix)

Pluton and the Humanoids: World Invaders
I-f featuring Nancy Fortune: Holographic Voice
Aural Exciters: Spooks in Space (Discomix)
Mat-101: Goblin 101

This mix was so much fun. After doing it, I realized that I had more tracks I could throw in, but there's always next year. This is the first mixed show I've done here that was totally mixed on my computer. There were somethings about it I really like, but there were technical problems getting it going. And the final result was much glitchier than I would have liked. And not glitchy in a good way. So I'm not totally happy with it. May do more along these lines in the future, but this week it's back to vinyl! Thank goodness.

Yeah, the glitches sucked.

+Yup, two covers of Prince tunes in the top 3; #1 (covered by Soft Pink Truth) was written for Vanity (I think) and #3 is one of The Artist's best.
++Kinda cool, since this is my song. I have a few of my ambient/idm/experimental trax sprinkled in here. Yeah, I beat out Ellen Allien; take that, Ellen! hehee. Thanks to whoever tried to buy it, although it's not for sale @ Amazon (or anywhere else) ...hmmm, maybe I should try selling them.

Next post refers to the start of my "Rockist" shows -- post punk, punk, buttrock, other stuff.... the beginnings of my Saturday show "Gutter Glamour." Meow!

11.07: And a fun show it was! Ratings Thursday seem to have been pretty good, so I will be repeating Wednesday's midnite shows on Thursdays @ 10pm EST from now on. Didn't get a chance to broadcast a second set, so I will probably do a double set next Wed/Thurs. Laters...

And look, it's post #666 from me. That can only mean one thing... SATAN!!

About Patti Smith's "Rock & Roll Nigger"...

Posted: Sat Nov 08, 2003 12:08 am Post subject:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Actually, I don't have the Natural Born Killers soundtrack... I tend to like Trent Reznor's work from that time and Lard are/were great and it has Barry Adamson on it, and I really like his stuff. I do have Patti Smith's "Easter" where that track first appeared ...excellent record.

This is Post #668 -- the Neighbor of the Beast.

Oh, I'm so friggin' clever.

Last Wednesday's playlist. (and I will be repeating Wednesday shows on the following Thursday @ 10pm EST from now on.) Something a bit different -- a take on some of the for-lack-of-a-better-word rock tunes I like. All different stuff, some of which wouldn't have been out of place on my broadcast before -- like what wouldn't, heheh. Post-punk being a main theme, but not the only one. The next couple of weekly shows will continue in this vein and I'll be starting up a show Saturdays of all rock & roll selections.

ROCKIST1a 11.06.03 kittygrocksthebox1

Patti Smith Group: Babelogue / Rock n Roll Nigger
D-Generation: Wasted Years
Erase Errata: Ca. Viewing
Adult.: Turn Your Back
Adult.: High Heels on Tile Floors (Adulterated Version)
Joy Division: Shadowplay
ESG: UFO
The Futureheads: Robot
Gang of Four: To Hell with Poverty
The Rapture: Heaven
White Stripes: The Hardest Button to Button (FK1000 White Stripped rmx)
The Darkness vs SFB: I Believe in a Thing Called Love (rmx)
Judas Priest: Living After Midnight
Electric 6: Naked Pictures (of Your Mother)
The Chap: Remember Elvis Rex
Felix Da Housecat: Cyberwh*re
The Pop Group: She is Beyond Good and Evil
A Certain Ratio: Kether Hot Kneves

Where else are ya gonna hear all this? heheh. A lot of these tunes will be making it into my regular rotation, which has expanded to take on more funk and post-punk.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Listen for more goodies tonight (Wednesday nite), 'round midnite with extra goodies on earlier around 10:00pm. That's East Coast time. And I'll repeat the new sets Thursday @10pm. AND... I'll be playing rock & roll selections all day Saturdays from now on. Name of the show is "Gutter Glamour" and you know by these playlists, it won't be your usual selections.

11:13: apropos of nothing, well, actually I have a reason, but I just like saying "apropos of nothing." Anyway, since my musical selection has expanded and my horizons broadened while my priorities have shifted, I've changed my station description a bit. It now reads:

electro-post punk-funk-Italo-disco-idm-Deutsch-synth-NY-no wave-no rave-mash-ups-micro-house-Detroit-techno-booty-acid-kittycore

Heehee! Just so you know.

More rock & roll on tonite. (Thursday, already!) Starts around 10pm EST. laters.

Riffing on the Butthole Surfers in the next post... And by the way, these posts were taken straight from the board on Live365... I am talking to other people here. Not just myself! Really I am. "Hello Kitty. How are you today?" "I'm just fine, Kitty, and you?" ermmmm....

10. Alek Stark - Disco TK - Highway to Disko lp

I found these stats interesting, just this once maybe:

Stuff people tried to buy (whether they were successful or not... my stuff's not for sale, at least not anytime soon anyway):

1. Zoot Woman - It s Automatic (Themroc Remix) - It's Automatic 12"

2. Paul Johnson feat. Jessica - Erotic City - Erotic City 12"

3. MOG GOG - 1a_4 A4 - 1a

2. Paul Johnson feat. Jessica - Erotic City - Erotic City 12"

3. Multiplex - Mainline - Pinghaus Frequencies lp ...great electro-flavoured IDM record... it's German, right now I'm too lazy to look up the label. Record is a lovely transparent green.

4. Kitty Glitter mixes - ETRO4d 4.23.03 - electrochilledsexydiscovolant ...if you wish really hard. Like on a star or something. I might show up in person.

5. James Cotton - I Seek - State of the Union ep (Spectral/Ghostly International)

6. Felix Da Housecat - Glitz Rock - Kittenz and Thee Glitz lp

7. David Caretta - Contact (Serge Gainsbourg) - Le Catalogue Electronique lp (Gigolo) ...I just put Serge Gainsbourg's name in there cuz I dig his stuff and also so that wayward funny French pop fans would find me and be tricked into thinking I would play more tunes by him.

11.17: More new tunes of mine uploaded for my Monday shows, now called "silent g". These continue in the same experimental/ambient/idm vein -- more beatless moggie tracks! Next week I hope to have some of these up on the net to at least preview (if not download) as well as some nice dronestuff for the second half of the Monday show.

And that brings us up to the present.
